Private Pond w/ Cousins "B" & Cale

March 9, 2009-Warm & VERY WINDY
Air Temp: 71-78    Water Temp:51-54
WHAT A DAY! The water temp had really come up and that triggered
the fish to bite. I caught 23 Bass today w/ a 5lb. 15oz.(22 1/4" Va. Citation),
5lb. 4oz., 3lb. 14oz. and 10 other fish around 2 lbs. My cousins caught
several nice Bass also w/ several 2lbers. and one fish 3lbs. 13ozs. w/
several nice Jackfish(23 1/2" 3lbs. 4ozs.) The fish bit a little of everything
but the spinnerbait was tops. Next couple of days should be great! Good
Fishing!

Ni River Practice w/ new partner Don "Moon" Mullins

March 7, 2009-Warm and WINDY
Air Temp:55-73     Water Temp:41-48
Started out day near launch and partner landed a 2 1/2 lber. continued down
shoreline and after about 20 mins. I landed a 1 1/2 lber. Decided to try shallow
area back up major feeder creeks and hooked a BIG BASS that pulled off at boat.
Fished other shallow areas near deep water and my partner caught a 1 3/4 lber.
Stayed w/ same pattern and jumped to area I had caught big fish in before. On
about the 10th cast I hang a large fish and landed it, the fish weighed 5lbs. 7ozs.
and was 21",  The fish was gorged to the gills feeding up for the spawn. Was
getting late so decided to head home-not a bad day. Good  Fishing!

Private Pond w/ cousin

Feb. 15. 2009-Cool & windy
Air Temp:40-53     Water Temp:43-45.5
Rough day w/ weather conditions and low water temp. I caught 2 Bass on spinnerbait(2 1/2 lbs. & 1 1/2lbs.)
and cousin caught a 2 1/2 lb. Jackfish on small crankbait. Left kind of early, wanted to get back to see Daytona race.
Did see another guy fight a fish for 15 mins. and finally land it w/ net. The fish was a twenty-six lb. Carp, what
a fight. Hopefully we can get some warmer weather and the wind will lay down. That should warm the water
in this shallow pond quickly and turn the fish on. Good fishing!

Hotside Lake Anna w/ cousin Cale

Feb. 13, 2009-Windy & Warm
Air Temp:54-60     Water Temp:58-68
Started out near plant outlet(water temp-68) fishing was very slow. Several strikes in area but fish seemed to
p/u baits and immediately spit out. Fish were starting to spawn we decided so we moved to an area w/ lower
water temp.  Caught first fish w/ spinnerbait, about 2 lbs., shortly after caught 12 incher on plastic. Moved to another area
and caught a 1 1/4 lb. Bass on spinnerbait. Moved again and caught another Bass on the same spinnerbait. Cousin
had a nicer fish on a spinnerbait but got off before we could boat it. Not bad for first time out in big boat this year. I
know what type of pattern fish are in now so next time I go back I know I'll do better! By the way I purchased a  Ranger
Bass boat in off season w/ 175HP so give me a call and we'll give it a shot. Good fishing!

Ni River Res. small boat tournament

Oct. 4, 2008-Sunny & Warm
Air Temp:62-84    Water Temp:63-72
Last Regular tournament of season-Started off day in area where
I had caught fish previously and also had put brush pile there.  I
marked fish on depthfinder but had no "Takers". Moved  a small
distance and caught a 2 lb. fish on plastic, so I continued to work area.
Caught another fish on plastic that was barely legal but glad to catch it.
Moved back in creek cove and caught 2 more legal fish around a beaver
hut. Finished up day covering as much ground as possible but no results.
Finished up w/ around 3 1/2 lbs. but had a dead fish so I was penalized.
Ended up year in 12th place overall, hoped I could finish in top ten but I
don't feel too bad. I fished 3/4 of the tournaments by myself against teams
that had two people. I also finished above both my cousins who had fished
the tournaments last year. Probably would have finished even higher if I
wouldn't have missed the previous tournament due to fishing in the BFL-FLW
tournament. Time to do some fun, no pressure fishing! Good Fishing!

13TH PLACE AS CO-ANGLER AT 200 ANGLER BFL-FLW SUPER TOURNAMENT ON POTOMAC

Sept.  27-28, 2008:Hot, Humid & Scattered Rain
Air Temp:78-88     Water Temp:71-74
First day was paired up w/ a great guy-DOUG JENKINS FROM CHARLES CO,
MD., he was very professional & cordial. Doug was really on the fish, we stayed
in his area most of day. Catching fish on various frogs & buzzbaits. Doug must have
caught 25 fish and ended up w/ 5 keepers averaging around 3 lbs. each. I had
             had 5 keepers also w/ a big fish of 4 lbs. 4 ozs., a 3 1/2 lber., a 2 1/4 lber. and two
small keepers to end up in 7th place w/ 11 lbs. 14 ozs. and qualified to fish final
round and cash a check.  Second day my boater angler was MARK SCHAFER FROM
WILLIAMSTOWN, N. J. WHO WON THE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2004 AND
FINSIHED 3RD IN THE ALL-AMERICAN THE SAME YEAR.
Mark was also very
professional and had actually caught a bigger limit than Doug on day 1. Since Mark
was 7th as boater and I was 7th as co-angler we were paired. He had a nice area
to fish but he needed high water for it to be real good. The water had started to go
down so it wasn't as good as previous day but Mark was able to catch 3 keepers w/
a kicker of 3 3/4 lbs. and I had several fish blowup on buzzbaits and frogs but couldn't
stick a hook in any. Mark had the same problem, the fish were just short striking. I know
we both must have missed 6 fish each and a couple seemed like real nice fish. Mark
decided to move to new area, tried several areas before settling in on an area I was also
familiar w/. I had fished the area the week before and felt confident I could get some fish.
I switched to my favorite spinnerbait and shortly after caught a 2 1/4 lber., then 1 1/4lber.
There were alot of boats around us so we moved to another grass bed in area and I caught
another 2 lb. fish. Mark then caught 2 1/2 lber. on a frog and another solid keeper to get
his limit. He finished up day w/ 10 3/4 lbs. and I had 5lbs. 5 ozs. to finish in 13th overall.
I was disappointed to drop so far but for first BFL-FLW TOUR. I guess I should be happy,
plus I cashed a check! Mark and Doug were good guys and it was a pleasure to fish w/
them. I look forward to fishing my next  BFL-FLW event, it was a great experience.
             Good fishing!

2nd Occoquan River Small Boat Tournament w/ Don Mullins

Sept. 20, 2008-Hot & Sunny
Air Temp: 85  Water Temp:75-78
Fished usual areas w/ spinnerbaits, frogs, buzzbaits, and plastics. Wasn't able
to prefish so I knew I had to find fish. Fish were scattered, we caught one here
and there. The fish in my area weren't as big as I had been catching earlier in the year.
Had a couple of big fish break me and my partner off but was able to get our limit.
Enjoy fishing w/ Don, just wish we could have landed fish that broke off. Well still
hanging around top ten for year but I'll miss next club tour.-fishing BFL-FLW Super
         tournament on Potomac. Good Fishing!

Abel Lake tournament w/ substitute partner Don Mullins

August 23, 2008-Hot & Sunny
Air Temp.-68-85  Water Temp.-76.5-80
Started tournament taking a long ride down near dam. 1st point pulled
up on Don caught a small keeper on plastic. About 5 casts later I caught I
another small keeper. Well the morning continued about that way, small
fish but lots of them. Finally we got to an area where a creek channel ran
close to the bank around a shallow flat. We both had what felt like a nice
fish take off w/ our lures but neither of us were able to hook the fish. We
ended up catching about 25 fish. We weighed in 5 fish for 2.9 lbs.-what hogs-
but we had 1 dead fish so w/ penalty we had 2.65. I thank Don for fishing w/
me, he did a good job, just couldn't land the big fish we needed to place. Looks
like still in 11th place overall. I think I can make some ground up at remaining
tournaments so I can finish solidly in top ten. MAKE SURE TO GIVE ME A CALL
TO BOOK A TRIP-FALL SEASON SHOULD BE GREAT! I JUST PURCHASED RANGER
W/ A 175 ON THE BACK SO I CAN I GET TO SPOTS QUICKER AND FISH MORE COM-
FORTABLE. FISHING FLW TOURNAMENT ON POTOMAC RIVER ON 9/27-28, HOPING
TO PLACE IN TOP 20 AT LEAST TO GAIN SOME MORE RECOGNITION AND WIN SOME
$$$. I'LL BE PRE-FISHING QUITE A BIT TO TRY TO FIND SOME GOOD SPOTS!
     GOOD FISHING!

Occoquan Res. small boat tournament

August 16, 2008-Hot & Sunny
Air Temp.-69-86   Water Temp.-78-82
Started out day pretty good, 5th cast caught a small fish on a crankbait
but wasn't big enough to keep. Switched to a plastic dragged slowly on the
bottom and caught a small legal fish. Tried several areas where I had
pre-fished but came up empty. Started covering ground quickly and fished
next several hrs. without a bite. Moved back near to area I had started in
and finally hung a huge fish, the fish battled for several mins., then I was
able to work it up close to boat. I tried netting the fish twice and each time
it saw the net, it went under the boat. The second time it went under the
boat and pulled drag it threw the hook. That fish was at least 6 lbs. and I'm
pretty sure it was closer to 8 lbs., I haven't had a fish pull like that in a while.
Ended up tournament w/ 2.84 lbs. but no one really did that well. I'm sticking
in there around 11th place overall-considering that I fish by myself I don't feel
too bad, if I would have had a partner I'm sure I could've landed the big fish.
Well I'll keep at it and do my best! GOOD FISHING!
